I’ve repeatedly expressed my concerns that Romney would be another Bush, expanding the burden of government spending and failing to engage in desperately needed entitlement reform.
I’ve even shared some R-rated anti-Romney humor, so folks know I’m not a knee-jerk Republican.
But I have to confess that this new global poll is the most persuasive pro-Romney information that I’ve seen. Simply stated, if the nation that elected an idiot like Hollande overwhelmingly supports Obama, then maybe the alternative is acceptable.
On the other hand, I’m mystified why the Aussies are so in the tank for Obama. I thought they were rather sensible, based on their good economic reforms.
Mitt Romney’s denial that his healthcare plan was the basis for the basis for Barack Obama’s healthcare plan and then his admitting that it was sealed his fate, thus leading to his loss in 2008 and 2012. That and his 47% comment where he said that 47% of the population would stand with Barack Obama no matter what. Even if Mitt Romney was right about the fact that 47% of our population not paying federal income taxes, he alienated a segment of the population who may have voted for him otherwise.
[…] his goal of turning America into another France. But he can take comfort in the fact that the French people overwhelmingly support what he’s trying to […]
There are several reasons to be skeptical about this poll.
The Canadians favoring Obama, when they elected a PM who makes Romney, let alone Bush, look like a socialist?
The French favoring Obama, when any of their leaders make Bush look like a multiculturalist?
The Brits favoring Obama, when they are dissatisfied with their Conservative leader for being too soft?
The Germans favoring Obama, when they think that Merkel throws money out of the window?
The Poles favoring Obama, when many of them keep a framed picture of Reagan, and many feel, rightly or wrongly, that Obama sold them down the river?
Of course, I don’t know what the media is peddling in those countries; except that I keep an eye on the BBC, which is indeed “biased”.
Not biased enough to skew the opinion of people as skeptical as the Brits, but perhaps biased enough to somehow skew the polls that they commissioned.

Dan, unfortunately Australians are “so in the tank for Obama” because, regardless of what they say about the phenomenon, they give far too much credibility to the daily news. The press over here seems to believe that it’s more important that we have our 1st woman Prime Minister than that she is effective or honest. She is guilty (mid-career, when working for a left wing legal firm) of fraud, theft (from her ‘constituents’) & misrepresentation; all of which is being repressed by a huge cover-up, inclusive of a sycophantic press corps. So, in the same vein, the Australian public are equally fooled by the impressive oratory & presence of Obama, without looking beneath the superficial facade. It’s far more important to have the 1st black President than to have someone doing the right thing by the country & its people, so we’ll believe whatever he says.

It should be a stark reminder for Americans as to where they are headed. You not only have the classic irreversible vicious cycle trend towards mandatory collectivism here in America to contend with, but you also have the rest of the world against American exceptionalism. That being said, Romney is a poor representative of that exceptionalism, he is just not as bad as his opponent.
But when Americans make fun of France, they should remember that they still have all of that still ahead of them yet. And apparently a majority of Americans are ok with that. I would though start looking for a new idol country, because, by the time Americans complete their irreversible journey to HopNChange, France will be in such bad shape that even the American majority will have figured out that France is circling the drain.
In a more narrow and immediate interpretation, I believe that most world citizens support Obama because they want a less interventionist America (something I agree with though foreigners may change their minds when they see what replaces America) but also out of schadenfreude. They are envious of America, they have been brainwashed about the core of what America is/was about, and thus want America to make the same mistakes they did. That may prove yet once more that mandatory collectivism, the norm in most of the world, does not work. However, most people in the world hate America so much that America’s decline, in their mind, takes precedence over yet another black eye for the mandatory collectivism they espouse.
In short, Obama offers what most foreigners want most: America’s decline.

So this is yet another reminder that America is a lost cause at this point. The vicious cycle of decline already has the country in its grip. As I said before, the fact that half of Americans believe in HopNChange tells me that the remaining half are more or less also clueless as to what is happening to this country: How America is basically following the standard classic pitchfork path to decline. A path taken by many one successful cultures before America.
So be smart. As the pitchforks consume the remaining narrow margin of advantage that this country holds over the rest of the world, just make sure that you get your ration – and more if you can (eg. sign up for ObamaCare, earn a federally paid college degree you will eventually use overseas once America declines, start a dollar per kilowatthour solar energy farm etc.), prepare a viable alternative for when America hits the skids or for when the wretched gradual decline becomes too much to bear, and enjoy yourself in the twilight years of the once great empire of freedom. Just don’t get caught with your pants down. The impact of the generalized tragedy of decline can be softened if one plays their cards right at the personal level.
In a nutshell, if you can’t beat the vicious cycle of decline, then join it, steal their wallets and get out. There is still probably a bit of momentum in the young HopNChangers who will enthousiastically work for their dream for a few more years until the generalized delusion sets in. Enough time for the wiser of you/us to live a few more relaxed years feasting on the delusional hopes of the next generation and the current fools of HopNChange.
…and I bet you that somewhere someone in the Obama campaign has figured out that there is somewhere a narrow sliver of the electorate, typified by Zorba, who will embrace the redistribution to decline and may even start voting Democratic once he has signed up for all the possible redistribution and mandatory compassion schemes being implemented.
Interesting data–thanks for posting.
I can’t help but believe that Obama has improved America’s image around the globe and this poll seems to support that idea.
Why is it that foreign resentment is requisite to conservatives’ belief in American exceptionalism?
P.S. Go dawgs! Beat Muschump…again!
What is it that Kenyans, who picked Romney by the largest numbers, know that the rest of them don’t?
Me thinks the polling in many of these countries is less credible than a Kieth Olbermann bathtub poll. Thus the Aussie results in particular.
Because Obama ostensibly commited to “cover their backside,” so to speak, but without Congressional input. Think it is some sort of port deal but am not certain.
