When I last checked, Henry Payne was winning the bronze medal in the contest to identify the best political cartoonist.
You can see why by checking out this cartoon about Washington’s reaction to sequestration, which (gasp!) slightly slows the growth of the federal budget so that it is only $2.4 trillion bigger 10 years from now rather than $2.5 trillion bigger.
What makes the cartoon so effective is not just the humor, but also the fact that it makes clear that government is too big and it also debunks the Keynesian notion that bad things will happen if we have even an itsy-bitsy degree of fiscal discipline.

Our country has made a choice that will stick with us for a long time when we chose a socialist for president again after seeing what he had to offer the first 4 years. I am the first to admit that Bush did not slow down spending at all, but Obama has put the petal to the metal. Recently he threw a fit about 44 billion of projected spending increases getting cut out of a 3.8 trillion budget for this year. Do you realize that just a few years ago we had an income of 2.4 trillion and only a 187 billion deficit. Now we have an income of 2.4 trillion and a huge deficit. The problem is spending. THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT CARTOON DAN!!! My blog is getting lots of hits because of these cartoons you are passing on.

The way our government officials have been going around and declaring the sky is about to fall because spending has been cut is a little humorous, but more so on the ludicrous side. It is totally pathetic that they would have such a hard time dealing with such a small cut in the GROWTH of their budget.
