I’ve previously posted about the communist government of Cuba cutting taxes and the CEO of Coca-Cola saying that communist China has a more business-friendly climate than the United States.
Having grown up during the Cold War, I still have a hard time believing my eyes when I read stories like these.
But those examples pale into insignificance compared to this story. A member of China’s political elite, which presumably makes him a member of the Communist Party, has a better understanding of economics than the Presidents of France and the United States.
Sure, that’s not saying much, but read what Jin Liqun, the head of China’s sovereign wealth fund, said about the European welfare state.
If you look at the troubles which happened in European countries, this is purely because of the accumulated troubles of the worn out welfare society. I think the labour laws are outdated. The labour laws induce sloth, indolence, rather than hardworking. The incentive system, is totally out of whack. “Why should, for instance, within [the] eurozone some member’s people have to work to 65, even longer, whereas in some other countries they are happily retiring at 55, languishing on the beach? This is unfair.
Astounding. There’s also a video at the link.
So let’s think about what this means. The communist elite in China recognizes the importance of incentives and understands the corrupting influence of welfare on the human spirit (they would like this cartoon). Heck, even Castro admitted that communism was a failure.
Yet politicians here in America still want to make government bigger and create more dependency.
I guess it’s time for me to unfurl the hammer and sickle.

United States of America before the event the increase in internal debt ceiling had the option to negotiate their debt securities in the possession of other Countries. You can still do this, of course with minor success. But it can. The internal political struggle did not let anything happen. Now lost again with China buying all the gold possible in the world. All believe that Chinese is to control inflation in China. It is not. China buys the gold at ridiculous prices through exploration contracts with miners and mining cooperatives worldwide. What astonishes and terrifies any observer is that the United States observes everything as if oblivious to the fact that serious. Or into this vein of gold with purchase at ridiculous prices or will bitter over a big headache to balance its economy very soon. You should see who knows. Political fights are for later.

Dan I think you have missed the point. The Chinese understand human nature, not necessarily economics . What makes socialism so dangerous is that the inevitable failure of that construct (due to the lack of incentive to perform) leads its advocates to demand the government compel citizens (now subjects) to comply.
Communism is simply the logical next step of socialism- essentially socialism at the point of a bayonet. Of course the Chinese find Euro-Socialism a silly waste of time. The Chinese remedy would not be free market incentive however, it would be forced “re-education”, state run labor camps, and harsh punitive measures to “correct” indolence.
Sometimes watching abject failure up close can be an eye-opener. Communist nations have had that opportunity and learned the lesson, unlike the communists living in the west who somehow missed the lesson because of the distance and stupidity involved.
Oh, BTW, if you had any doubts that the vicious cycle of decline has now closed in the western world…

They are now the desperate majority. They will burn the furniture to keep warm… for a little longer… as decline deepens.
Even dictatorships must now compete to survive in the new high mobility world – and that is one of the top positive developments for 21st century humanity – on a worldwide scale, the world looks better than ever.
The mobility of goods, services AND people is forcing even oppressive regimes to compete for productivity AND people – and thus inevitably become less oppressive. That is why many people today are starting to feel freer in Dubai than in France.
So while the overall world picture looks very positive for humanity with an average annual world growth trending towards a long term 4-5%, the future for the declining west looks rather bleak. But western nation voters are reaping the harvest of the delusion they’ve sawn: that lower welfare state incentives to produce would somehow allow them to prosper and maintain their 6x average world living standard. As three billion people in the emerging world are rejecting oppressive collectivism, the less than one billion western voters, in their infinite wisdom, are fast adopting the very hippie political philosophies of communal central management that once kept the rest of the world in misery. Western convergence and submersion into the worldwide average will come soon – before most of us even retire.

But, wait! Can’t we all just get along under a homogenized French style welfare low-growth communal world government?
For the sake of humanity, I hope not. I have faith that at least some people, some countries, will not acquiesce to that (if it finally comes to that, then geez, even hideous philosophies, like the Taliban might become welcome diversity). So while the time to jump ship has not come yet, it is definitively approaching, so keep your bags packed. Collectivists will not listen to logic in their delusional and relentless vicious cycle to get you to work serving them. So mobility will be the great liberator when it comes to thriving as an individual in the 21st century.
Mr. Mitchell has great intuition in fighting the battle that he does – primarily against worldwide communal homogenization.
So while the west seems doomed in the delusional embrace of the welfare state, the world picture from afar looks brighter than ever. What will our descendants come to see one day? I wonder! The Taliban rising to the top spot in economic freedom?
Seriously? Roll out the hammer and sickle? That’s not funny, Dan. Not at all. Lots of people have been murdered under that flag. Just because Chinese politicians understand economics does not mean we should forget what Communism has done to the citizens who lived under it. Not to mention what happens in China on a daily basis due to the State’s lack of regard for human life.
You need to be way more careful when making statements such as these.
Aye Dan, having lived through the cold war also I cringe when I think that the communists have a better understanding of capitalism than our “leaders.”
But the One Child Policy is Good, Biden said so himself
In many ways China is more capitalist than America, but in many ways it’s still the same old communist, 1-party, repressive regime. They still have the one child policy. They have centrally planned industrial policy favoring their exporters (to our short term benefit). And worst is they have essentially no freedom of speech. No, I think I still prefer the good old US of A.
