The White House recently released a video, narrated by Austan Goolsbee of the Council of Economic Advisers, asserting that higher tax rates on the so-called rich would be a good idea.
Since Goolsbee’s video made so many unsubstantiated assertions and was guilty of so many sins of omission, here’s a rebuttal video, narrated by yours truly.
This new Center for Freedom and Prosperity video includes the full footage of the White House production, so viewers can decide for themselves which side is correct.

No doubt that a lighter level of taxation means a more dynamic economy. So what? Is it enough?
Are you sure that US are the “most prosperous country” in the world? American people are too much US-centric and do not realize that the rest of the world is not so bad. Europe exchanges a higher level of social stability for a slower economy. But not so slower, if currency rates mean something. Health public systems in Germany, Spain, France or Italy are very good and competitive, probably better than US system (also according to the WHO) and, yes, are… free and for all. Employmet rates aren’t better in US, where figures about unemplyoment are distorted by the highest rate of convicted people in the world…
And what about the “not negotiable Amercian Life Style”? Do you really think that your militar presence in Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pacific Ocean, Africa has nothing to do with your “prosperity”? Do you really think that you richness is just liberty and low taxes? Ehm…

“politicians”, not “polkiticians” (sorry)
You, Americans, should take a look to what happened to Europe. Particularly in Italy: we pay a higher % of taxes than Swedish do. To keep a welfare state in some cases comparable to a third world country one.
The problem, everywhere, is called “polkiticians”: if they reach your credit card, they will starve you.

Americans are lightly taxed by international standards.
Americans are also the most prosperous nation amongst almost 200. But it’s just a coincidence folks! Let’s ignore it and join the rest of the world! After all, if we make a mistake we can always return to lower taxation and smaller government can’t we?
Good video, Mitch.
It always startles me how many people believe this propaganda.
