If you want to see more of Chuck Asay’s great cartoons, click here, here, here, and here.
On a related theme, here’s a cartoon from Lisa Benson.
The good news, as shown in this polling data, is that a majority of Americans still believe in individual responsibility. Let’s hope that spirit of self reliance lasts long enough for us to roll back the welfare state.

the only thing i disagree with is that those who holler the loudest about goverment handouts, have a lot of times taken goverment handout themselves.i don’t believe anyone one wants to have to receive assistance sometimes things happen, mitt romneys father had to receive welfare for a few years until he got on his feet.mitt romney had taken corporate welfare as ceo of bain .i imagine that some people think that corporations are people as as an entity.which mitt romney does.to me its just too much hypocricy and double standards…

To the trolls that want everyone to believe the astronomical corruption of the democrats can also be applied to republicans and everyone else… I could use stronger words but you are nothing but propagandists either getting paid for it or just plain stupid. The democrats work hard a slinging shit, enough to get all over everyone and everything but you morons still keep them in power. YOU are the problem. Now go hide your head in shame and stay away from the polls.

No matter who is in power, which party rules, or what you have or have not done in your life, the piper will be paid. The inevitability of consequences is a certainty. The rock can never be unthrown. We and our leaders continue to deceive each other. From the lowly ward moderator to heads of state, there is no accountability. We have let this happen. Our greed, sloth, short-sightedness, complacency and inability to work as a united nation has brought us here. “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” The simple solution is truth.
