I don’t like wasteful government spending, but it really adds insult to injury when politicians use my tax dollars for political propaganda. A nauseating example of this practice are the highway signs highlighting how projects are funded by the so-called stimulus. In my young and reckless days, they would have been ideal targets for vandalism. Now that I’m just an old grouch, I mutter under my breath.
So I was very happy to see this amusing image appear on my twitter feed.

Good one!
These signs are saying the Real TRUTH about all the government waste, especially the “Stimulus-money”. By the way the General motors auto bailout……. Dems are quick to say Obamas bailout helped them and turned them around……..The government Owns and runs 60% of all GM. and the Messiah has his hand picked cronies on the executive board.
I work for government and I’m VERY blessed but they screw up EVERYTHING, waste massive amounts of money, and always keep making the same old mistakes. The reason for this is because government bosses, managers, executives, and CEO’s hire relatives and out right morons because favors are owed.
The next few generations will have it really hard paying all this stimulus and bailout money back. I wouldn’t want to be baby right now…..the future isn’t all bright for them. 😦
Can you post a hi-resolution version?
Indeed, it should say “the more you give, the more comes back to you as propaganda to give even more”. That, BTW, should also be the caption on those NPR bumper stickers that you get when you donate to the station.
I think though the “Paid by your Children and Grandchildren” prediction is too optimistic. The dodo is going to hit the fan much sooner. Lots of things will change and lots of even more economically suicidal policies will be put in place once the US looses its status as most competitive economy in the world, a status it has held for nearly 100 years. The rest of the world has become more competitive (ironically after seeing how far they had fallen behind the US) while American economic liberalization has stalled (and perhaps even reversed course lately).
So the sign should more presciently say: “Paid by a somewhat older you, in a few years”. Look for taxes and other dis-incentives to produce to go up, which will further decrease US productivity thus triggering a new wave of taxes and productivity dis-incentivizing legislation, and so on. The vicious cycle will be quick. Things move fast in the 21st century.
I think Americans have gone past the tipping point. No European nation has been able to backtrack from the Welfare State. It’s “Abandon every hope ye of you who enter”. What Americans do not understand is how much more educated and competent they will have to become to even get to the point of partially compensating for the dis-incentives of the Welfare State (like Europeans do) and still end up at a European prosperity level; at best!
A difficult awakening to a new reality awaits the American public, because America’s reverence for individualism turns out to have been a result of historical coincidence, rather than rational voter thought.
