Here’s a joke I got from a friend in Alabama. It’s somewhat similar to this gem about the difference between conservatives, liberals, and Texans.

You may have heard on the news about a southern California man put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had (by rough estimate) 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel.
My favorite quote from the dimwit television reporter: “Wow! He has about a quarter million machine gun bullets.” The headline referred to it as a “massive weapons cache”.
By southern California standards someone owning 100,000 rounds would be called “mentally unstable”. Just imagine if he lived elsewhere:
In Arizona , he’d be called “an avid gun collector”.
In Texas , he’d be called “a novice gun collector”.
In Utah , he’d be called “moderately well prepared”, but they’d probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food.
In Montana , he’d be called “The neighborhood ‘Go-To’ guy”.
In Idaho , he’d be called “a likely gubernatorial candidate”.
In Wyoming , he’d be called “an eligible bachelor”.
In Wisconsin , he’d be called “a deer hunting buddy”.
And, in Alabama , we just call him “Bubba”.

If you want more gun control humor, this interview with a general is worth sharing (presumably an urban legend, but could be true). Here’s a t-shirt that I’m putting on my Christmas list. And here’s a parody that shows how leftists think gun control works.

Damn right a guy with 100 guns would be called “an avid collector” in Arizona. This is a poor state, whose only serious industries are ranching and copper mining, and our folk tend to be frugal. We consider four guns per person to be adequate: shotgun, rifle, heavy pistol and light (or target) pistol. Anyone owning more than that is a collector. Besides, how many guns can you carry at once? Practicality, practicality.

Oh, I thought he was insane because he owned 100 guns and still insisted on living in California….
About like owning a farm in the Antarctic or a Taco Bell on the moon.

Not that I don’t agree with your point, but the guy was put under observation for more than just the guns. He was a hoarder and had been exposing himself in public.

it is true that california is repressive in terms of gun ownership, environmental regulations, big government. however the driver of these liberal policies is mostly san franscico, northern california. frankly we should split the state and let southern california decide their own budget. this would mean that san franscisco would be able to spend any way they wanted without spending
money from Southern California.
i am long tired of northern california drive all the state in inane directions.
Apparently California is also where 100,000 equals a quarter-million. Wonder why they have so much debt in that state again…
