This cartoon perhaps could have been useful during the Occupy Wall Street protests, but I already had a lot of fun mocking those people.
Or maybe I could have used it during the Greek riots, since it captures the entitlement mentality of that nation’s looters and moochers.
But why limit ourselves. In the spirit of togetherness and unity, let’s say it applies to all statists.
All you need to realize is that these people think that somebody else will always be there to pick up the tab.
Which is why these class-warfare cartoons (here, here, here, and here) are funny, in a tragic sort of way.
As is this cartoon if you want to understand the economics of redistribution.
@bookthief Contracted? You mean strongarmed! And read the fine print on the Social Security legislation! Its 100% a tax. Not an entitlement. Paying into that system is, according to your logic, a CONTRACT. If the terms are not you your agreement that’s just too bad.
@intergalactic62 Ever heard of the Ninth Amendment? How about the Tenth?Go read them and then come back here and see if you’re so smug.
[…] Sort of reminds me of this cartoon mocking American hippies. […]
Man you sure did show that strawman
Love it.
“Instead of believing all the BS on right-wing outlets that only care about the bottom line of their wealthy corporations”
You mean, like Hollywood who overwhelmingly supports Democrats? Or could it be large corporations like GE and Chrysler……who also supports Democrats?
Damn, you don’t like to think, do you?
“why don’t you do some real research… like in a library. It’s harder to spin in a library.”
You could give it a try. It obviously would be the first time for you.
“well it is the free market that has taken all our jobs over seas;”
And why is that? Because it is far easier to build a factory overseas than it is to build one here. You cannot have it both ways, either reduce regulations to empower businesses or increase regulations with the understanding that businesses will go elsewhere.
What are you too stupid to understand that simple concept?
“to people who work for about 25 cents an hour with no benefits; who will all get shot in the head if they complain”
Project much? I can only guess that those who get “shot in the head” are in dictatorships or socialist countries.
“and the republicans say to trust the free markets; and they will bring the jobs here; when it was them who moved the jobs overseas in the first place”
Actually, it has been liberal policies, not the Republicans. Ignoring facts won’t help you.
Nevergiveup… how long did it take you to because so brainwashed?
Quite the spin doctor aren’t you? When, if ever, will your fans think? Maybe after they lose everything? Or do you purport that only top 2% comment on this board?
Progressives want YOU to pay as much as WE already pay. We want YOU to bring jobs back to America and no longer get tax breaks for taking our jobs overseas.
We want the benefits CONTRACTED for to be upheld. Isn’t that why you HAD to pay all the BONUSES to the Wall St. and Bank guys? “It was in their contract?”
We’ve been paying into Social Security & Medicare our whole lives and we would like to know it’s there when we retire. Are we greedy and lazy for wanting to keep what’s ours?
Some of us are now unemployed – not because we’re lazy – because we’ve been downsized, laid off, out sourced, plant closed, bank closed, our 20th year with the company was coming up… hundreds of reasons. We’re not asking for a hand out. We’re asking for a hand up.
My question to you: when did Americans become so cruel and selfish? WE did not cause this recession. Years of GOP and DEM shady deals did.
Instead of believing all the BS on right-wing outlets that only care about the bottom line of their wealthy corporations… why don’t you do some real research… like in a library. It’s harder to spin in a library.
ya know what’s funny about all this; is the fact that everyone is bitching and telling us to leave vulture capitalizm alone; and dont touch the free markets…..well it is the free market that has taken all our jobs over seas; to people who work for about 25 cents an hour with no benefits; who will all get shot in the head if they complain…and the republicans say to trust the free markets; and they will bring the jobs here; when it was them who moved the jobs overseas in the first place…….god bless the free market. “not!!!!”
I think we should transition to local charities so there would be more accountability in distributing help. I think having a check from a distant gov’t office is not the same as looking the local person in the eye, reviewing your plan to be on your feet and going over the progress made thus far. The goal of anyone who needs assistance should be to get off of assistance not to remain on it indefinitely, that is an entitlement mentality we have created in our society and it is pervasive.
I just love the left;;; If I can’t take yours.. I will cry foul untill the government gives me yours, and if you don’t like it, well I call you my pet name and cry.And in the end it will not be my fault.
Apart from their welfare mentality, their thinking and analysis also runs in opposite direction. Never mind the common people, even the leftist intellectuals seem to evade facts and derived reason, as if they are basing their conclusion on some other sources or their faculties of reasoning are very poor.
Often people in this American country have no clue how much higher their standard of living is compared to the rest of the world and what were the core differences between America and the rest of the world that freed such prosperity, and what are the historical coincidences that enabled this part of the world, discovered in a unique way, to become the most prosperous nation in the world. Americans often answer this question with some vague references to some inexhaustible “tradition” but little enduring rational thought. Hence the prosperity is fleeting at this point.
There are seriously Americans who believe that the unique aberrant prosperity enabling elements of America are stronger redistribution, superior welfare, more intense central planning and some mysterious momentum whereby once you manage to impose yourself on the rest of the world, you will stay that way – apparently an art that remained undiscovered by any other previous human culture anywhere, until America appeared on the map a mere two centuries ago. These people are simply delusional dreamers.
to Intergalatic62: Last phrase in the 5th Amendment …nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
That’s the proof that the Constitution supports free markets and private property.
The entire welfare/warfare state is violating the 5th Amendment.
My private property is being taken for public use without compensating me.
Re-distribution of income violates the 5th amendment for the same reason.
“Welfare” in Article I, Section 8 was never intended to indicate “welfare” as we know it today. That is a perversion of truth and a twisting of history, and “messenger” should find a message of integrity before posting in public. Most obviously so, even without considerations of history and context, because “welfare” as we know it is most definitely *not* “general.” I’ve never received a penny of it. Nor has any decent American citizen I’ve ever known in my entire life.
@ Griper
Article I, section 8 of the U. S. Constitution grants Congress the power to “lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and general Welfare of the United States.”
MIKECOOLEY has it right corporattions are THE biggest welfare recipients As for me I’d rather pay for bottles over bombs.
Neither do welfare or incometax dip shit
the words capitalism and free market appear nowhere in the declaration or constitution. prove me wrong.
u guys dont get it. your hard earned money isnt even real. i dare u to save your hard earned paper for 20 years and see how much u have left after ur goverment and central banks print trillions in paper money to finance their false flag wars and spend billions and billions of dollars BAILING out corporations who r closely associated with the fed reserve, AND U DUMBASSES THINK THE POOR HIPPY COLLEGE STUDENT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICA?? Some liberals like Neil don’t participate in taking money but want to see lots and lots of gov tits which always grow out of control and get abused.
Dang, NEIL. What kind of self respecting Liberal like you doing not getting Federal goodies? 🙂
@Kim: You are contradictory if you say “BELIEVE IN DECLARATION. OF INDEPENDENCE” and “ENGLISH OFFICIAL LANGUAGE”.
REQUIRED OF US CITIZENS.
BORN IN US OR LEGALLY IMMIGRATED
BELIEVE IN DECLARATION. OF INDEPENDENCE
BELIEVE IN US CONSTITUTION
ENGLISH OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
hard **earned
@Neil- It doesn’t matter that you’ve never taken a penny from the government, yourself. You are voting to have the government steal MY hard warned money to have it redistributed to people like this. You are part of the problem. What is so hard to understand about that?
I’m a liberal that has never taken a penny from the government. This picture is about as accurate as saying Denial is a river in Egypt. But hey, spread the misconceptions!
I love that. That’s actually from a flyer I once had a copy of back in the 1970s, but it’s still relevent today.
That about sums it up nicely.
