Recently, Overland Park changed its city ordinance to allow open carry within city limits to anyone who also has their concealed carry license (basically, to match state law). This naturally caused a public uproar from people concerned that Overland Park will somehow become the “Wild Old West” because concealed carry enthusiasts can now openly carry instead of having to concealed carry in city limits. So, now, one brave Council Man, in order to make everyone feel better, has introduced a new restriction to open carry (before they’ve even bothered to see if it will be a problem in Overland Park). Anyone who sees open carry and is worried can call the police and have them check the concealed carry papers of the open carry person, anywhere at anytime. So, if you dare to open carry, you could theoretically be challenged for your papers by any and every cop at any and every different venue … in the name of public safety and well being.

But, I guess it’s safer if you keep that gun tucked away in your handbag or something.
