Whoever came up with this picture deserves a lot of credit. It’s amusing and it gets across exactly the message Obama wants.
Obama will probably enjoy a big bump in his popularity. But that’s fine with me. He deserves it.
I’ll go back to criticizing his economic policy soon enough, but at this moment I’m proud of America’s Commander-in-Chief.

He deserves it? From what I’ve heard, the tip that led to the courier that led to Bin Laden came from Gitmo, and from the use of enhanced interrogation techniques. Obama ran on a platform promising to disband Gitmo and criticizing Bush for using “torture” on prisoners there. Now he gets the credit? Before I am willing to give him any credit at all I want to hear the apology to his predecessor: “Yes, Mr. President, I opposed your policies on terrorism, but it turns out you were on the right track after all. My bad. And thanks.” Then I’ll give him credit.
To be clear about what I said in the last post, I’m not saying Obama deserves no credit. He is commander-in-chief of the US military, so credit where credit is due, but y’all know his part in this is getting overinflated by pictures exactly like that one right, (even though I admit they’re funny)?
I just don’t want y’all to sober up in the morning and regret anything you said. What brilliant new strategy by his administration led to this victory – or was it just more of the same, mounting pressure, and practical inevitability – born of policy maintained by political inevitability rather than the courage of the policymakers?
And yes, I’d say the same about George Bush, or a subsequent Republican President.
Further, I think this might turn out to be something of a blow to Liberty-oriented candidates, because the Big Government types will surely spin this as some kind of final proof that you should be intervening militarily all over the world as per Plan A. Libertarians already get the “isolationist” straw man crap enough as it is – as if they consider ALL external military actions unwarranted. Hell, I can’t even get it through the thick skulls of people I know personally that Libertarians are not against basic law enforcement, let alone that kind of garbage.
I knew the second 9/11 happened that the terrorists had awakened a sleeping giant, and the US would tear this whole goddamned planet apart if necessary to make them pay. It might surprise you to hear it, but I was pretty much okay with that. It’s not nice, or pretty, but how could I expect y’all to do anything else? I knew you’d bomb the crap out of someone – anyone – rather than look like you were taking this lying down. Bin Laden wrote that cheque, and you guys cashed it. That’s imperfection, but not the worst kind.
“Self-love, my liege, is not so vile a sin, As self-neglecting” – Henry V, Act II, Sc iv.
Let’s just take it down a notch, huh Dan? I think you’re letting a kind of “football rah-rah go-team” mentality get the better of you – starting with your post title.
Mr. Mitchell … Obama is nothing more than a clueless community organizer out of ACORN. He doesn’t deserve spit. The hard work and recommendations came from the field. Period. You would know that, had you participated actively in the military. The credit goes to our men in the armed forces. Period. Not Obama, not beauracrats, not editors or freaking journalists! Enough said. Salute to our military. Oh, by the way … how many of the SEAL SIX TEAM were gay or women? Enough said!
The efforts to find Osama began long before Obama became President. He happens to be President and does deserve acknowledgement for not canceling our intelligence program. The praise goes to those military personnel who will never get the credit. As for the picture captions, it is just as bad as those that get passed around by the other extremes of political beliefs.
All the prior comments were well stated and correct. IF Obama deserves credit, so does the bumbling fool Texan, GW Bush as Obama used all of Bush’s tools to finally eradicate the cockroach. But actually, the Seal who plugged the cockroach deserves the real credit, not the men who put them in harms way. Plus, the guy who is the real leader of Islamists the world over has been dead for over 1400 years and the infestation is still going strong. Osama getting 86′ed? Nice, but whatever.
Yes, the military personnel deserve credit for finishing well (as we say in football), but you also have to give credit to all the intelligence folks who finally tracked the courier down, and to the people who put the teams together. Those people would include a bumbling fool Texan but a stupid Chicagoan with an ego the size of SPT-CL J0546-5345.
Surely Obama 1 Osama 0 is wrong anyway, shouldn’t it be Obama 1 Osama 2977? After all, thats the toll from 9/11. One man doesn’t make an international terror organisation.
