I’m not sure watching me on TV is the best way of spending a Saturday night, but watching Dambisa Moyo is much more understandable.
She’s the author of How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly – and the Stark Choices Ahead.
Lots of interesting talk about policy, demographics, and culture. I agree with some of her book and disagree about other parts, so it made for a fun discussion.
It will show several times this weekend, so check out this Book TV site for the best option.
I love Damibisa Moyo. She’s smart and gorgeous. I noticed you and Michelle Caruso-Cabrera making googly eyes at each other during your Cato seminar. Are you gonna do some flirting with Dambisa? Heheh, just kidding.
C-SPAN isn’t available in Nova Scotia — as far as I know — so I hope a video of this interview will eventually find its way onto the C-SPAN website.
Curiously, both Moyo’s book and Niall Ferguson’s recent Civilization: The West and the Rest are depicted by commentators/reviewers — not to cast aspersions upon the authors themselves — to have mercantilist sympathies; that is, a resurgent East means that the West will suffer proportionately (simply to focus on the economic implications, without factoring in the geo-political ramifications nor the question of sovereign debt), in zero-sum fashion.
I wonder if Dr Mitchell will raise this question in his discussion with Dr Moyo.
