Any refugee applicant should nto be given citizenship. They should be repatriated with their country and/or one in their region.

How about making reforms such as “for every child you have that someone else pays for, you get 100$ less a month in welfare and if you can’t take care of them, there’s a really nice couple that is willing to adopt that baby.. ” policy changes.

When I was about to leave high school at the age of 15 the teachers were literally training us on how to fill out government forms so we could get a government allowance called, “Austudy”,while attending college, (in my state that referred to year 11 and 12 – there are slight differences in terminology here, and most of my classmates were 16).

So you had a bunch of 16 year olds learning how to get government money, while the idea that “you have to go to college if you don’t want to be a loser” was shoved down their throat.

I was a bright kid who liked academic activities at school, but I was not interested in the education system itself. I joined an Army programme right out of high school that let me start work and learn electronics with hands on work in just two years. I didn’t find that working for the government was exactly my bag either, but getting away from the public education system was a step in the right direction. I can’t adequately describe the difference in attitude I encountered when I came back to see my school friends just one year later. But, “a useless bunch of bludging, arrogant, pot-smoking, anti-Capitalist hippies”, comes pretty close.

Anyway, the point of this little anecdote is that the school system was actively weaning children onto government money from the get-go. And now we’re surprised when they are less likely to ever get off it? Give me a break.

Along with the advent of nebulous excuses such as ADHD, and the latest stupidity: ‘Paid Maternity Leave’, (ie. taxpayer funded), the situation has become nothing short of ludicrous.

Funny, I always used to love reading Archie Comics where he would go out and get a summer job, or Li’l Jinx would run a lemonade stand. Things like that coming out of your culture seemed so much more normal to me than anything I saw going on in my town.
