Expect this Administration to break its “No new (direct) taxes on the middle class” pledge in its second term. I say “direct taxes” because indirectly this Administration has already imposed a lot of new taxes on the middle class, hidden taxes that affect the price of all goods and services that we buy, or limit our choices thus decreasing our standard of living, though these taxes are largely invisible or untraceable by the general public. Some of these taxes will take a few years to manifest themselves as decreased standard of living.

As for the more direct taxes on the middle class to come, expect Obama to become a suddenly enlightened deficit hawk and personally promote the deficit issue to crisis levels in his second term, when he is on his way out. Most of the economically suicidal policies of the previous Administration were enacted during Bush’s 2nd term. Expect even worse behavior with even more economically suicidal policies from Obama’s 2nd term. America’s fate of decline from most prosperous nation status will then be sealed.
